Never Leaving Home

Last weekend things were in high gear. The pedal was to the metal and the heel was to the steal as we had a weekend full of serving. It all started Friday as some volunteers from Springfield, MO cam to pass out flyers about the "Bevo Fall Festival." After hitting the streets and passing out flyers door to door it was time for some nourishment.

The country of choice for dinner was Bosnia. I took these servants to go and eat at a local Bosnian restaurant. It was a cultural experience of a 2 hour dinner. I really enjoyed it because I had the mixed meat plate. It was protein at its finest.

On Saturday we moved from Bosnia to multiple cultures and languages as the Fall Festival was on. There were people from all over the world there having a great time, eating some food, and playing in massive bounce houses. As the Festival was rocking I had the opportunity to deliver furniture to 3 different refugees houses.

It was truly a humbling experience to see people with nothing so glad to receive some furniture.

You haven't lived until you have delivered a sleeper sofa to the 2nd floor of an apartment. Who needs the gym?

To end the day teams went out with door hangers to spread the world about the church and more importantly Jesus. As they were out people were prayed for on the streets.

It was a great weekend of seeing the world but never leaving home. In reality everyday in Bevo is an adventure around the world.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://churchatbevo.blogspot.com/2011/10/traveling-world-never-leaving-home.html' title='Traveling The World & Our leader in small groups ministry and a pastoral intern in the church, Will Nunn, had a tremendous idea in the way leadership is structured this year. These groups are meeting on different nights throughout the neighborhood. The leaders of these groups basically serve as the shepherds or pastors of the church. As most of you know, I have a full time job in the city with another organization. Therefore, while it is not only not our strategy, it's also impossible for me to be the traditional thinking, "full-time" pastors.

My job is to teach the church, while identifying, raising up, and training other leaders. If you are not in a Life Group, you need to be. This is the place where we make friends, learn how to use our greatest tool, the Bible, and find out ways to better serve our neighbors. Yes, the Church at Bevo is a church of small groups!

Darren
Lead PastorA Church of Small Groups

New Blog!!!

Hey folks the new blog is up, so make sure you stay tuned for more to come!
